Chief Officer L R Newton’s Chest

This fascinating chest once belonged to Mr Lyle Newton, who was born in Hartlepool in 1930. In 1940 he joined the Merchant Navy as Naval Cadet. He then moved onto becoming the Chief Officer for the Royal Fleet Auxillary for 30 years. He retired in the 1980s and sadly died in December 2017.
